In the women's event, the Swiss duo Hüberli/Brunner managed to prove their skills. Although they had already won two European Championships and four Swiss Championships together, they were able to celebrate their first gold medal on the Beach Pro Tour in Tepic. In the final match, they defeated the Dutch duo Stam/Schoon in a 2-1 tie-breaker (21-14, 19-21, 19-17). In the race to Paris, they are still one step ahead of their compatriots, even if Böbner/Vergé-Dépré, Z. are trying to catch up with successes such as at the Guadalajara Challenge.
The bronze medal went to Brazilians Carol/Bárbara, taking their 12th medal together on the Beach Pro Tour after beating Gottardi/Menegatti. Most recently, they triumphed in Doha with a place in Paris looking not too far off.
At just their second event in 2024, after winning silver in Doha, Åhman/Hellvig already collected their second medal and first title of the season in Tepic. In an exciting tie-breaker, the duo beat Brazilians George/Andre 2-1 (21-17, 19-21, 15-10) and defended their Tepic title, which they already earned last year. Given their impressive track record, the Swedes are almost certain to qualify for a spot at their first Olympics this summer.
The Cuban duo Diaz/Alayo was also in full swing, taking home bronze after their first participation in an Elite16 main draw. They beat German champions Ehlers/Wickler in two sets (21-18, 21-17), putting them among the top four teams on the Beach Pro Tour for the fourth time in a row after winning silver medals in Recife and Saquarema and placing fourth in Guadalajara.
