After a three-set thriller against the experienced Italian pairing Cottafava/Nicolai, David Åhman and Jonatan Hellvig are in the final of the A1 CEV EuroBeachVolley Vienna 2023 .
The previously unbeaten Swedes start the match with errors and are quickly trailing by 4 points. Motivated by this, the Italian duo can also show their best performance and win the set clearly 21:12 with an impressive block by Paolo Nicolai.
The second set starts evenly before Åhman puts his stamp on the match with great points and forces a deciding set.
In the third set both pairs show why they are in the semifinals and offer the despite the wind numerous audience volleyball on top level. The score swings back and forth and both teams are close to a decision several times. At the score of 22:21, Samuele Cottafava of all people hits the ball into the out and the match is decided for Sweden after a total of six match points. Everything is set for the title defense of the young Swedish jump setters.
